Knowing planet earth

Team AckoFeb 8, 2024

Your child is around 7-8 years old. At this age, there are various things that will poke his curious mind. One of them is our planet earth. Questions like what is the shape, why there is day and night, what is moon, etc. will keep popping up now and then. Answering theoretically is not the only solution here. Perhaps what you need to do is to show your kid something that he can relate to and understand well. Here is a small activity that will help your child understand our Earth better.

    Steps:

    1. Rather than resorting to pictures in the book of Internet, grab a model of globe.

    2. A globe is a near perfect replica of earth that will help your child understand various aspects.

    3. Place a torch in one side of the globe and start rotating it slowly. This way you can practically explain how day and night is formed.

    4. Similarly, take a small ball and revolve it around the globe with the torch in focus. You can explain different phases of moon with this.

Kids always understand better when they see something in application. Try this simple activity and see how your child understands our earth better and faster.
