Access to quality medical care needs to be provided to every Indian irrespective of the income group they belong to. This is an ideal scenario, however, it is not 100% true in this matter. India is a developing nation and steps are being taken to provide easy access to health care. One such step in the right direction is the launch of Mukhyamantri Amrutum Yojana in the state of Gujarat. Through this health insurance plan, the government aims to facilitate as many people into availing quality health care services as possible.
The Mukhyamantri Amrutum Yojana, is a health insurance scheme launched by the Government of Gujarat on 4th September 2012. It was initially launched only to cater to people who fall under the lowest income groups of the state i.e. Below Poverty Line (BPL). However, later iterations of MA Yojana extended benefits to lower-middle-class families as well. This is a holistic health insurance scheme that pays for the entire cycle of a medical contingency, from diagnostic tests to post-hospitalization care. The Mukhyamantri Amrutam Vatsalya is truly a boon for those in need.
Mukhyamantri Amrutam Vatsalya is a prime example of a health scheme that is created truly for the benefit of the people. Here are the features of the plan:
The beneficiary of the scheme does not have to pay any amount for enrolment or as insurance premium. This is a 100% state-funded scheme.
ASHA workers that help BPL families to register under the scheme are given Rs. 100/- per family as an incentive.
Mega and General Health Camps are conducted on district levels with the help of both – private and government-empanelled hospitals on a monthly basis.
Dedicated data centres and servers are used to store and manage data with the help of an IT agency called (n)Code Solutions.
Fully paperless processes like claims and other services.
International Society for Quality in Healthcare accredited services that pay 10% more than the package rates to hospitals.
Empanelment of both – private and public/trust/Grant-In-Aid hospitals to encourage healthy competition.
Following are the major benefits of this insurance scheme, more information about the coverage can be gathered by calling a dedicated customer care number for the plan.
The following things are also covered under MA Yojana:
|Medical expenses||Rs. 5,00,000/- per family per annum|
|Travel charges||Rs. 300/- per hospitalization|
|Repatriation of remains||Rs. 6/- per kilometre from the hospital to the place of residence.|
|Additional benefits||All benefits of the PM-JAY package i.e. Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana|
Food for the patient
Post-surgery follow-up services
The MA Amrutam Yojana disease list is a long one as many treatments are covered under the scheme. The same list of families is also available on the MAGujarat website under an online BPL search page. This list is used by any vendor associated with the enrolment process for reference. The MA Vatsalya lists are dynamically generated based on the income certificate of families.
To enrol under the “MA” and “MA Vatsalya” schemes, the beneficiary family members should visit kiosks at Taluka or Civic Centers of their area. To reach the maximum number of eligible families, the State Government has also introduced mobile kiosks at local levels.
The Taluk office, Civic centres, and Mobile kiosks are well-equipped with all the hardware that will be required in the process of enrolment. This hardware is used to capture biometric information like fingerprints, iris scans, etc. Photographs of the family will also be taken. The beneficiary may have to first fill the MA Amrutam card application form in Gujarati with correct details about the family.
After the verification of documents, the beneficiary will be given an MA Amrutam card, a pamphlet about the scheme, and a list of empanelled hospitals. The enrolment process is complete after a family receives these documents.

You will find a couple of useful apps about MA Yojana that have information like hospital list, contact details, features of the scheme, etc. These applications can help you quickly locate your nearest empanelled hospital at the time of a medical emergency.
The interested member may not require a MA Amrutam form PDF to enrol under this scheme. Visit the Mukhyamantri Amrutum website. This link helps you locate your nearest Kiosk. You will find an application form at this Kiosk.
Unlike conventional health insurance, the claim process of Mukhyamantri Amrutum Yojana is very smooth and easy. One does not need to arrange any documents at the time of claim. The member of this plan simply needs to submit the QR card to a network hospital and the verification process will begin. After a quick verification, the treatment can start and the patient does not have to wait. Moreover, these claims are cashless in nature. This reduces the financial burden on the patients and family.
After the treatment is complete, the empanelled hospital will send the details of hospital stay to the insurance company. The member of Mukhyamantri Amrutum Yojana does not have to look into this exchange of information. The claim will be then settled directly between the hospital and the insurance company.
One needs to visit an empanelled hospital to avail cashless claims during a medical emergency. Since the hospital is already registered to serve members of Mukhyamantri Amrutum Yojana, there would be less hassle while settling a claim. Here is the MA card hospital list for your reference:
Download the Mukhyamantri Amrutum App to know the complete list of empanelled hospitals. These details will also be provided at the time of enrolment. If one misplaces the list, he/she can visit the local kiosk and fetch the MA card hospital list.
