Hyundai Employs Its BS6 Creta’s Diesel Engine in the Elantra

The rival to the Skoda Octavia and the Honda Civic, Hyundai’s BS6 Elantra will be powered by the BS6 diesel engine which powers the new Creta as well. Hyundai had launched the new iteration of the Elantra premium sedan only with a petrol unit; however, it will now be offered with a diesel unit as well. The 2.0-litre petrol engine employed in the BS6 Elantra produces 150bhp and 192Nm of peak torque while paired to a 6-speed manual or 6-speed automatic gearbox. However, the diesel model is powered by a 1.5-litre unit which is capable of producing 115bhp and 250Nm of torque which is mated to a 6-speed manual or 6-speed automatic transmission. This unit also powers the new Hyundai Verna and the new Creta. The new Elantra will be available in the SX and SX (O) variants only in the country.
BS6 Hyundai Elantra Diesel Engine Specs Revealed

The specifications of the BS6 Hyundai Elantra diesel variant has been revealed. The sedan from the South Korean automaker in its diesel avatar will be powered by a 1.5-litre that will churn out 112bhp and 250Nm of peak torque. The unit will come mated to either a 6-speed manual or automatic transmission. The automatic gearbox is expected to be offered in the top-of-the-line SX (O) variant of the BS6 Hyundai Elantra. The new Hyundai Elantra with its BS6 compliant diesel engine is expected to come with a host of features such as drive modes, LED quad projector headlamps, front parking sensors, among others. The BS6 Elantra will compete with the likes of Honda Civic and the Skoda Octavia in the Indian market.
