The “validity of visa” means the length of time the Malaysian visa is valid from the issue date, not necessarily the length of time you can stay at each entry.

Immigration determines the actual stay allowed upon entry; having a visa doesn’t guarantee a whole stay.

A passport that is valid for at least 6 months beyond your intended stay in Malaysia.

The passport should be original and have two blank pages.

Proof of accommodation in Malaysia, such as a hotel booking or an invitation letter from a host.

Proof of financial means to support yourself during your stay in Malaysia, such as bank statements with an amount of 80,000 or above.

If you're applying for a work visa, you'll also need a letter from your employer in Malaysia and a valid employment contract.

Incomplete documentation: Missing or incorrect papers such as passport copies, photos, or travel itinerary.

Invalid passport: Passport expiring in less than 6 months from the intended travel date.

Incorrect visa type: Applying for the wrong category (e.g., business instead of tourist).

Insufficient funds: Failure to show adequate financial means for the trip.

Unclear travel purpose: Vague or inconsistent reasons for visiting Malaysia.

Previous visa violations: Overstaying or breaching past visa conditions in Malaysia or elsewhere.

Criminal background: Past legal issues leading to disqualification.

False or misleading information: Any inconsistency between forms and supporting documents.

Poor travel history: Lack of prior international travel or rejections from other countries.

Unverified accommodation or return ticket: Missing proof of hotel booking or onward travel.

Apply with a passport valid for at least 6 months beyond your planned departure from Malaysia, and ensure it has enough blank pages.

Choose the correct Malaysia visa type for your purpose (tourism, business, etc.) and fill out all application forms accurately, matching the supporting documents.

Submit a complete and consistent set of supporting documents: no missing pages, mismatched dates, or unclear information.

Please show a clear travel purpose and itinerary, e.g., the stay itinerary, hotel booking/reservation, return ticket, or onward journey.

Provide evidence of sufficient funds to cover your stay + return. Recent bank statements show regular flows, not sudden large deposits.

Demonstrate strong ties to India (job letter, property, family, business) so visa officers believe you will return.

Buy legitimate travel/health insurance (if required) that covers the whole duration of your trip, from the date of arrival to the date of departure.

Apply generously before your planned travel date (avoid last-minute submissions) so you have adequate time for queries or extra checks.

Align all details in documents. For example, the travel dates in your itinerary must match your flight bookings, visa application, hotel stays, etc.

Be honest and transparent in your application. Inconsistencies, false information, or forged documents significantly increase the risk of rejection.

Limited eligibility: Most short-term Malaysia visas (including tourist eVisas and visa-free entries) cannot be extended, except under exceptional circumstances such as illness or flight cancellations.

Where to apply: You must visit the nearest Immigration Department office in Malaysia before your visa expires. Extensions cannot be done online.

Timing: Apply at least 7 days before your Malaysia visa expiry to avoid overstaying penalties.

Documents required: Valid passport, current visa, return flight proof, accommodation proof, financial statements, and a letter explaining the reason for extension.

Decision discretion: Approval depends entirely on immigration officers; not all reasons (like “want to travel more”) are accepted.

Extension duration: If approved, extensions are usually for a short period (7–30 days) only.

Overstaying penalty: Staying beyond the validity of a Malaysian visa without approval may result in fines, detention, or future entry bans.
