The time taken for passport renewal depends on the scheme you have chosen. For the normal scheme, the wait time is anywhere between 30 and 60 days. The tatkaal scheme is quicker. The passport renewal time under the tatkaal scheme is 3–7 days.

The passport renewal process in India differs from the re-issue process undertaken for passports.
