How to Pay Road Tax Online in Assam?

  1. Go to the official website of Assam RTO:

  2. Now choose the ‘Online Service’ option.

  3. After this, select 'Vehicle-related Services' and then choose 'Assam' from the list.

  4. Write the VIN or Vehicle Identification Number.

  5. Pick an online service.

  6. Select ‘Pay Road Taxes’.

  7. Enter the registered mobile number to get an OTP.

  8. Choose a payment method, click on continue, and pay the amount.

  9. Lastly, download the payment receipt for future reference.

How to Pay Road Tax Offline?

Paying road tax offline is the preferred mode of payment among people. For this, you have to visit your District RTO office. Once you reach the office, finish all the documentation work, pay the fee, and keep the payment proof for future use.

Assam New Vehicle Registration

If you are buying a new vehicle in Assam, it is very essential to get it registered with the District RTO within 7 days of its delivery date which excludes the time taken for transportation. However, government-approved dealers can also carry out the process of registration on behalf of the owner.

In cases where only a chassis is delivered by the car manufacturer and the body is attached or constructed later on, a temporary registration can be issued. This is allowed under Section 43 of the Motor Vehicle Act, 1988, and is valid for one month until the body is completed. The registration certificate can also be extended if necessary.

  • Customs Clearance Certificate if vehicle is imported

  • For ex-army vehicles, the original sale certificate is in form number 21.

How to Apply for a Driver's License From Assam RTO?

Follow the below steps to apply for a driver's license: -

  1. Visit the official website of Assam RTO.

  2. Select ‘ online’.

  3. Now select ‘Assam’ as your state name.

  4. Click the button ' Apply Online' and after that 'New Driving License' and lastly click on 'Continue.'

  5. After that, write your LL number along with your DOB.

  6. Now, you have to fill out the form.

  7. Upload all the essential documents.

  8. Pay the fees.

  9. You will receive a unique application number.

  10. Now, visit your district RTO with all the original documents.

  11. Once all your papers are verified, you are asked to schedule your driving license exam.

  12. Attend the exam.

  • Need to show ID like PAN card, Passport, etc.
