Step 1: Visit the Passport Seva platform.
Step 2: Select the “Track Application Status” button among the options mentioned on the right side of the home screen.
Step 3: When redirected, you need to select the type of passport for which you submitted your application.
Step 4: Now, enter the “File Number”, which is the unique 15-digit number associated with your application.
Step 5: Add your birth date and click on the “Track Status” button.
Step 6: You should be able to view the passport application status on your screen.
mPassport Seva is a mobile app facility offered by the Government of India for passport-related services. You can use this app for a quick online passport status check as well. The following steps will help you track the passport application status via this method.
Step 1: Download the Android or iOS version of the mPassport Seva app based on the type of device you have.
Step 2: Complete the registration process by filling in the details like your name, birth date, and email address.
Step 3: You will find an option called “Status Tracker” on the app.
Step 4: Inside the status tracker, you can add your birth date as well as the File Number.
Step 5: The app will show you the passport application status.
If you don’t prefer the online methods, here is how to check passport status offline.
Follow these steps for passport application tracking via the SMS service.
Step 1: Use your registered mobile number.
Step 2: Send an SMS stating “STATUS (File Number)” to 9704100100.
Step 3: You will get an SMS containing the status of your passport application.
Important: Please note that this SMS facility is a paid service. Hence, the standard SMS charges will be applicable.

Step 1: Make a call to the National Call Centre using the contact number “1800-258-1800” (toll-free).
Step 2: You will be connected either to an executive or an Automated Interactive Voice Response.

Using the official India Post website, you can conduct an online passport status check for dispatch and delivery. Here are the steps for the same.
Step 1: Visit the Passport Seva portal and collect your 13-digit tracking ID.
Step 2: Head to the official portal of “India Post”.
Step 3: Move to the section named “Track Consignment”.
Step 4: Fill in the tracking ID under “Consignment Number” and enter the code visible on your screen.
Step 5: Click on “Track Now” to check passport dispatch and delivery status.
If the search doesn’t retrieve any data, it means that the PSK is yet to dispatch your passport.
A PSK or Passport Seva Kendra are regionally established offices that serve as extensions of Passport Offices. The PSKs function to accept new passport applications, modify old passports and provide other services.
Generally, an applicant can’t collect their passport by directly visiting the Regional Passport Office. However, it is possible in case of an emergency. You will need to submit an application, which will include the reasons why you need to collect the passport personally. However, it is up to the passport office to decide whether they approve your request or not.
